Biography

Dr. Daniel Santos has been immersed in the study and practice of Chi Gung, acupuncture, and Chinese Medicine for over 40 years. In the 1970’s in California he became one of the first licensed acupuncturists in the USA as an OMD (Oriental Medical Doctor). Dr. Santos then moved to the State of New Mexico where he was appointed to and served as Chairman of the New Mexico State Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Board. He practiced in his own clinic for over 25 years. He was also licensed by there as a private tutor and has lectured in schools,
universities, and hospitals.

He is the author of three previous books that have been translated
into seven different languages: Luminous Essence/Body talks to Body,
Feng Shui for the Body and Cuerpo Luminoso (Luminous Body).

Dr. Santos’ unique psycho-spiritual training began as an apprentice
to a psychic healer in the early 1970’s. He then went on to further his
knowledge of the body by studying and practicing the Chinese healing arts: acupuncture, herbology, Chi Gung, Tai Chi, and other forms of movement arts in the USA, China and Taiwan. His deep interest in herbs and sacred plant medicines also took him to visit the curanderos of Mexico and South America. Here with indigenous shamans in their native settings, he explored the effects of psychotropic substances. While in Peru his probings into ayahuasca and other “master plants”
led him to a detailed study of the intricate “science” of plant medicines
that is still alive there.

Dr. Santos is in the process of codifying the notes of the interviews that he did with various shamans in Peru and Mexico, a work that will be called Shaman’s Dream. He has also devoted much time and practice to Theravadan Vipassana, Tibetan Tantrayana, and Vajrayana meditation, and their underlying Buddhist philosophies. His path also took him to vibrant India where he visited many ashrams
and was trained in Kriya yoga, Bhakti yoga, Sound yoga and most recently
to Tiruvannamalai where he lives under the shadow of Arunachala, the
mountain that was the guru of Ramana Maharishi.

Dr. Santos has devoted a lifetime of exploration of disciplines concerning
body and mind Chi The Sixth Sense presents us with a unique vision of man as an ever-changing manifestation of energy that is inseparably interconnected with the living Earth.

Upon reading “Chi the Sixth Sense,” readers begin to realize that our social conditioning is grounded into the ways we move and breathe, learned at an early age.  We are shown that the way to untangle this is by focusing on how we gravitationally pace the Earth. Set against the backdrop of exotic locations and diverse cultural backgrounds, the book’s narrative introduces a myriad of characters, each offering a unique perspective on accessing body consciousness. Included are physical practices and understandings that help us to break through our social conditioning.

Overall, this points to a deeper understanding of Chi and its relationship to our True Nature, leaving the reader with an echo of the timeless rhythms of the universe…
